How we can help Tamariki, Whanau & Community
TRP was established in 2020 caring for rangatahi with very high complex behavioural problems for Oranga Tamariki. There are many factors that contribute to their complex lives such as navigating their life situation to diagnosed or undiagnosed conditions, trauma and other learning difficulties. We soon discovered that a lot of professionals didn't understand or know how to work with rangatahi and whanau with brain based impairments and it become evident that we needed to branch away from Here are some of the services we can provide.
Kaimahi Tautoko Intensive Individualised One on One Support
We have staff to provide support and mentoring for tamariki who are struggling in school, out in the community and in the home. Kaimahi Tautoko are well versed in supporting tamariki who are neurodiverse and can provide parents with management strategies for challenging behaviours. The service provides stability and consistency for better outcomes. Our clients include Ministry of Educations Intensive Wraparound Services, Alternative Education, Ministry of Health Wraparound Intensive Services and Ministry of Disabled People.
Tamariki & Whanau Respite & Intensive Supports
We provide respite care for those with high complex intellectual disabilities. This can include overnight stays to 24/7 care at location - we do not provide repsite housing. This service caters for tamariki who display extreme behavioural challenges and require specialised support and observations to develop management strategies. Our service in this space can include risk assesssments at home, school and community environments ensuring these space are fit for the client. We are experienced in high complex and difficult situations and provide action orientated solutions.
Tuhono Culture and Identity
We know its important for rangatahi to gain knowledge of their culture and other matters relevant to their identity. We will ensure that child or young person connects with places (whenua) relevant to their culture and identity. In addition we develop individualised wellbeing plans to assist with personal goal settings to further support their cultural and identity journey.
